ASALH presents an alternative to the founding story of Savannah. Former Mayor Dr. Otis Johnson will present the story of how enslaved people were brought from South Carolina to carve out Gen. Oglethorpe’s planned city, and how African Americans were a fundamental part of the founding of Savannah.
